Sprint has begun pushing the OTA Update of Version G900PVPU3CPL2 for Samsung Galaxy S5, along with Security Updates for December.
Sprint OTA Update
Sprint has dubbed its OTA update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 as G900PVPU3CPL2 build version for the SM G900P. In all probability, the update contains the Android security fix for December. Sprint has not made any announcement regarding this update. However, the size of update file is about 237 MB, so it is likely that it contains some bug fixes and additional features or some system improvement feature.
Along with these, the update contains the security patch for Android for the month of December. The Security Maintenance Release or SMR coming with the update offers 81 patches for CVE or Google Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures. It also offers about 15 patches for SVE, Samsung’s Vulnerabilities & Exposures.
The update comes with the build version of G900PVPU3CPL2 for the US. Sprint is the carrier and the device name is Samsung Galaxy S5. The Model number of the device is SM G900P and the OS is Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. The security patch is offered for the month of December 2016.
The new update will offer security patches for Android for the month of December 2016. In addition, it will enhance stability of the device, the Galaxy S5, and will optimize the performance. There are also some fixes for bugs for resolving issues along with other improvements in the system in general.
The OTA update is a phased one and it could take a few days for arriving on the devices of all Galaxy S5 owners. Most of the time, owners of the device will get a notification directly from Sprint or from Samsung, regarding the availability of the new update. However, those who have not yet received any notification regarding the update could check out the update manually to see if it is available. All they need to do is to go to the Settings of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and access About Device. From here, go to the Software Update and then Check for Updates.
You can know whether the update is available or whether it is already up to date, if there is no update available. By tapping on the Install now, you can perform the update immediately, if available, or install it later at your convenience.
Using Kies or Smart Switch
Another method of updated the firmware is through the Samsung Kies or Smart Switch for desktops. You can go to the support page of the company and download the Samsung Kies, installing it on your Mac or on the Windows Desktop. Select the Kies 3 supporting the Galaxy S5, SM G900F. It also supports other devices that run on the Android Marshmallow, 6.0.1 OS. After installing Kies 3, you can connect your Galaxy S5 to the desktop with a USB cable and follow the Smart Switch updating instructions seen on the screen.
