In terms of both digital and physical sales, Grand Theft Auto 5 was the fifth best selling game in Europe in the month of April.
Rockstar Games has a lot to cheer about as apart from GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, too, has found a place for itself in the top 20 list.
April was quite an interesting month for GTA fans as the next-gen versions of GTA 5 and GTA Online were released for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. While the next-gen versions were received very well by the gamers, many are still buying the last-gen version. The cumulative sales figure of both the versions this year has been huge, to say the least.
The website gamesindustry.biz was the first to report about GTA 5 assuming the fifth position on the European charts in April. The online portal shared this news after sourcing out the necessary information from GSD. While being no. 5 on this much-coveted list is a great thing, it is important for the fans to remember that the game was on the fourth spot in March. Therefore, it dropped down, though not significantly, in the charts.
The game would have been on the fifth position in March as well but ended up occupying the fourth position for an interesting reason. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which has become enormously popular in a short span of time, was released in the first week of April. Had the game been launched in March, it would have definitely resulted in GTA 5 being on the fifth spot in that month as well.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga emerged as the fifth most purchased game of this year. In the coming months, it could outshine some of the other new games that are ahead of it, in terms of sales, at the moment.
As far as Red Dead Redemption 2 is concerned, it occupies the 13th spot on the chart currently. What is truly wonderful is the fact that the game has gone a spot higher in the charts. In April, it was declared to be the thirteenth best-selling game in Europe.
Rockstar Games had to deal with some bad news as well. GTA Online, which on no. 18 o the charts in March, is out of the race at the moment. It seems that European gamers are more inclined to purchase the full-fledged GTA game instead of the standalone online version.
