In the last couple of months, Grand Theft Auto 5 has managed to break many popularity records in the gaming industry.
By getting declared the second most downloaded game in Europe in the month of March, it has added another feather to its cap. In the United States and Canada, it has emerged as the fourth most downloaded game in the same month. In the United Kingdom, it raced ahead of Elden Ring and many other popular games.
The aforementioned data was compiled towards the end of March. To arrive at the sales figures, the game’s recent re-release on the next-gen consoles was taken into account. The other versions of the game, too, have seen a lot of success come their way. GTA 5 was found to be the sixth most downloaded PlayStation 4 game in the US, Europe and Canada.
For next-gen consoles like Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, GTA 5 was re-released as an ‘enhanced’ edition. This particular version of GTA 5 was initially marketed as the Expanded and Enhanced edition of the game.
Rockstar Games, however, let go of this term after a while. Once that happened, players started referring to it as the next-gen edition. It comprises a bunch of exclusive features including an auto shop named Hao’s Special Works.
Though the fans were a little skeptical about how the game would turn out to be when the trailer was released, Rockstar Games ensured that it had many elements that would appeal to them. The game featured as one of the top three highest-selling new games in the UK and Europe at that point. In the US and Canada, it managed to find a spot for itself in the top ten list.
