The HTC U11 was unveiled back in May and at the time, it came preinstalled with Android Nougat out if the box.
A couple months later, the Taiwanese company confirmed that the phone will be joined by the U Ultra and 2016’s HTC 10 in receiving Android Oreo update. At the time, there was no mentioning of specific dates, but it appears that the HTC U11 will soon be receiving the Oreo treat. If a newly discovered listing on Geekbench is anything to go by, the U11 is already running Oreo, which could, probably, be an internal unit meant for testing purposes.
If this is indeed the case, it shouldn’t be long before the U11 starts getting Oreo, but it’s possible this will be a beta version of the OS. The U11 will be joining the recently-unveiled HTC U11 Plus in rocking Android Oreo, but as pointed out earlier, the likes of HTC U Ultra, HTC 10 and perhaps the HTC Bolt and HTC U11 Life will also receive an update to Oreo.
The HTC 10 was among the first handsets to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat back in November 2016. From the latest developments, the HTC U11 seems to be on course to emulate its predecessor in receiving Oreo in November 2017.
For now, we can only wait on HTC to confirm the dates, which shouldn’t be long. We’ll keep you updated. Meanwhile, have you received Oreo on your HTC U11? Let us know in your comments below.
