LG has posted the invitation for the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 event scheduled to take place on February 26th.
The LG event will take place at 12:00 according to the invite at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona.
The company didn’t keep their announcement under the wraps but rather showcased it proudly. The invitation is very straightforward as it claims that the LG G6 flagship will be a big phone. So far, we have had only rumors but the actual screen size will be known only when they launch the device. While it is a big phone, LG in their invitation claims that it will easily fit in your hand because of the bezel less display. It will be exceptionally compact to hold making it easy to use as a one handed devices and not as a phablet.
The MWC 2017 invitation doesn’t provide any other details. However, based on rumors leaked so far, it is known that the LG G6 will not have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. Samsung has managed to grab hold of all the SoCs available in the market. It has forced LG to go with an older Snapdragon 821 chipset. The processor happens to be the flagship choice used in all major phones including the popular OnePlus 3 among many others in 2016. Going with the chip is not a bad choice but rather a new flagship device that doesn’t run on the Snapdragon 835 seems a bit of a setback for this supposed to be innovative model.

According to the company, the new phone features “Full Vision” display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. It will have its finger print sensor mounted in the rear along with Quad DAC for best audio output. The flagship model will be available only in select regions on launch and may later find its way to regions around the globe. Pricing and other specifications of the model is unknown at the moment. We will know all the information once the event takes place at the Mobile World Congress by this month end.
LG will compete head on with Samsung Galaxy S8 which is expected to be launched in few months or possibly much earlier than expected. While the new S8 and the S8 Plus will sport latest processor with large displays, they may or may not have a bezel less design like the G6 which could help LG market its phone to its customers. We will know which phone wins in 2017 within a couple of months.
