Physical Copy of Grand Theft Auto 5 Next-Gen Edition Features No Map

GTA 5

Grand Theft Auto 5’s physical edition is slated to get an official release today (April 12).

Apart from the online store of Rockstar games, a handful of retail outlets are accepting pre-orders on the product. The price of the physical edition starts from $39.99. At the moment, the game can be played on the Xbox Series X/S consoles and PlayStation 5.

A bunch of enthusiastic fans, who managed to procure an early copy of the physical edition, have shared details about its contents. Retro Gaming Future, a popular YouTuber, uploaded a video on April 9that offers a glimpse of the kind of content that is being offered with the physical edition.

The unboxing video of the physical edition of GTA 5 has shown something that has caused disappointment for a large number of fans. It bears a strong resemblance to the physical edition of the Definitive Edition Trilogy. The box neither features a guide booklet nor a physical map of Blaine County and Los Santos.

This is a little strange as the physical copy of this game, which was released almost ten years back,is priced at $40. The game’s next-gen console edition features a bunch of bonus content along with several exclusive features. Players who opt for the physical copy, however, would not get any extra benefits.

Though Rockstar Games ensured a standalone release for GTA Online, it doesn’t seem to have such plans when it comes to the release of its physical edition. On the cover, there is no mention of the Online mode. The only upgrade that has been made to the cover art of GTA 5 is the addition of a new golden border.

Retro Gaming Future unboxed the copy that is compatible with PlayStation 5. That is the reason it was a blue-colored box. On the rear end of the box, one can spot the screenshot of a game engine that features all the three protagonists of the game. In this particular screenshot, one can see Michael and Franklin carrying a bunch of weapons. We also see these characters on the disc, though the artwork is a little different there.

As far as graphics are concerned, there is little difference between the PC version and the next-gen edition of the game. The developers have tried to ensure that the graphics of the new edition are at par with the kind of graphics one came across in the PC edition of the game that was launched in 2015.
