Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Duos is Getting Android 7.0 Nougat OTA Update

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was spotted with Android 7.0 Nougat update a while ago, with units in Europe and India among the models in question.

Back in mid-March, a user with Samsung Galaxy Note 5 model number SM-N920C reported having received an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. This is a variant of the Galaxy Note 5 Duos, with the other variant numberings being SM-N920CD and SM-N9208. Well, in a new different but similar report, a user of the latter variant of this same Note 5 phablet has reported having received the OTA version of Nougat.

The version of Android 7.0 Nougat rolling out to this handset carries firmware version N9208XXU3CQC6 and even though the details of the size are unclear, it should weigh the same as the 1.3GB version that hit the other variant of the phone. In addition to the Nougat treat, this variant of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 gets a new security patch for the month of March.

All the goodies that accompany the Nougat OS are finally here. Talk of multi-window mode, enhanced menu settings, better notification controls and a much-changed user interface. But given that this update is coming in over the air, it should take some time before all units receive the OTA notification.

Alternatively, you can move ahead of the group and get the Nougat update on your Samsung Galaxy Note 5. But this requires a manual process, which is not hard at all. Simply go to Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates. This should get you the update files and you’ll have to download and install them manually. Make sure your phone has at least 50% battery power before updating. Also, you may want to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi because the update is really huge.
