Sony starts Pushing Android 7.0 Nougat OTA to Xperia Z4 Tablet

Xperia Z4 Tablet Android 7.0 Nougat Update

Early last week, Sony started pushing out Android 7.0 Nougat updates to the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z3+ alongside their dual-SIM variants. Before this, the company had certified the Nougat update for these two devices alongside the Xperia Z4 Tablet, but the latter had yet to see the OTA come its way.

In a new story coming from sources close to Sony, it appears that the Japanese tech giant has started rolling out the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OTA to the Xperia Z4 Tablet. This is great news for those who own this tablet, which was released back in June 2015. With this update, the device will be receiving its third major operating system, having made its debut with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The same Android 7.0 Nougat-related features and improvements that have been coming to the Xperia X Performance, Xperia XZ, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z3+ will also be making their way to the Xperia Z4 Tablet, among them multi-screen view, enhanced doze mode and better control over notifications and the notification shade in general.

Xperia Z4 Tablet Android 7.0 Nougat Update

As noted earlier, Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet was released in June 2015. The tablet ships with flagship specs, among them a display screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and is covered by a scratch-resistant glass. It also comes with a pixel density of 299 pixels per inch, which is great for a 10.1-inch device. The body of the device is further protected against water and dust thanks to its IP68 certification. This means that even after lasting up to 30 minutes in water that is up to 1.5 meters deep, the Z4 Tablet will still be alive and kicking. Cool huh! While you may not dip the tablet in water intentionally, having this feature keeps you undisturbed when you are around pools, the kitchen sink, rain or even in the shower.

Under the hood, the Xperia Z4 Tablet has a flagship Snapdragon 810 processor that is paired with 3GB RAM. Even though there is only 32GB of storage, the tablet comes with a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 256GB. The primary shooter has an 8.1MP lens that ships with AF and HDR while the front has a 5.1MP lens. The battery is huge at 6000mAh and is not removable.

  1. I have an Xperia Z2 tablet (Verizon model) and wonder if it will ever get any updates? It was updated to lollipop but nothing since. I hope we skip 6.1and go to 7.0!
