BlackBerry is unveiling its new smartphone, codenamed Mercury, at the MWC 2017.
Recent tweets by Blackberry have teased the upcoming announcement to be made on the February 25th 2017. The announcement was made by BlackBerry through the @BBMobile Twitter account. The BlackBerry Mercury will be the last one of the smartphones by BlackBerry, designed and also engineered in house, though made by TCL.
Before the MWC
The announcement on the 25th of February this year is a little ahead of the MWC event. This is has been done probably to ensure that the device remains in the front of people’s minds, instead of getting lost with the rest of the announcements in the MWC.

Leak in Tweet
The tweet by Blackberry has not specified anything about the devices that will be announced. However, it looks like a hand set that is in the shape of a candy bar and coming with physical keyboard.
This leak is similar to the one revealed last year for the BlackBerry Mercury, which looks the same. It is also the same as the smartphone that was seen in the CES 2017. However, though BlackBerry had showed off its new smartphone at the event, some of the details of the device had not been revealed. It is possible that these details will be announced at the MWC 2017, to be held in February.

Upcoming Mercury
TCL had previously launched the DTEK50 and the DTEK60, with the both the devices offering touchscreen features. However, for those interested in physical keyboard in their smartphones, the Mercury is something to look forward to.
TCL is now going to be manufacturing and selling smartphones exclusively with the BlackBerry label. It is a Canada based company and is not going to manufacture its own devices any more. The first flagship of TCL with the BlackBerry label was unveiled at the CES 2017.
Features Revealed
According to some teasers shared by TCL, the BlackBerry Mercury will come with full QWERTY keyboard, which the handsets of BlackBerry are famed for. However, no other features of the BlackBerry Mercury have been confirmed. There are rumors that the BlackBerry Mercury will come with a 4.6 inches screen in full HD. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. This will be combined with a RAM of 3 GB and an internal storage of 32 GB.
It is also possible that the BlackBerry Mercury will come with a dual, LED flash rear camera of 18 MP and a front camera of 8 MP. The battery in the
BlackBerry Mercury will be powered at 3400 mAh and it may be running on the Android Nougat 7.0 or the 7.1 version.
TCL has not offered to share any of the specs of the upcoming BlackBerry Mercury smartphone. The official name of the new phone has also not been announced and will be done only at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona in February this year.
