Today we have a comparison between the flagship device of Samsung, Galaxy S7 and a mid range device, the Huawei Honor 6X.
The Note 7 is no longer a part of Samsung’s lineup, so the current flagship devices consist of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. The Galaxy S7 comes with high-end specs and is constructed of metal and glass, whereas the Honor 6X is completely metal in construction, with dual camera features. Price and Display
There is a lot of difference in the price of the two devices, with the Samsung device priced at around $589 and the Huawei one at $250. The display is also different, with the Galaxy S7 being 5.1 inches and the Honor 6X being 5.5 inches. They use different technologies and come with different screen resolutions. The pixel density of the Galaxy S7 is higher at 576 ppi, whereas that on the Honor 6X is lower at 401 ppi.
Hardware and Software
The processors are different and so are the GPUs. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is powered by the Exynos 8 Octa, 8890, whereas the CPU on the Honor 6X is the Huawei, HiSilicon Kirin 655.
The internal memory on both the Galaxy S7 and the Honor 6X is the same at 32 GB, being expandable to 256 GB with the use of a microSD card. The Honor 6X and the Galaxy S7 both run on Android. Both the devices come with great cameras capable of taking excellent pictures. As far as the rear camera on the two devices is concerned, both have the same resolution of 12 MP. The front camera on the Galaxy S7 is 5 MP, with the one on the Honor 6X being 8 MP. The battery on both is not removable and offers quick charging features. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S7 offers wireless fast charging that is built in the device. The battery on the Galaxy S7 is powered at 3000 mAh, whereas the one on the Honor 6X is higher at 3340 mAh.
All the other usual features, such as WiFi and Bluetooth and GPS along with the microUSB v2.0 port are present in both the devices. The Bluetooth version on the Galaxy S7 is 4.2, whereas the one on the Honor 6X is v4.1.
The fingerprint sensor is present in both the phones. However, the one on the Samsung Galaxy S7 cannot only be used for unlocking the device, but also for authorizing a mobile payment, such as Samsung Pay. However, the fingerprint sensor on the Honor 6X cannot be used for mobile payments, as the NFC chip is lacking in the device.
The Galaxy S7 has a better build and specs, but most of them are merely bells and whistles. Here is where the Honor 6X scores, as it is a basic device offering an AMOLED display and satisfying all basic needs at a much lower price.
