Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 to Feature Exynos and Snapdragon Editions, Expected at MWC 2017

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is close to release date as there are more updates with regards to its specification.

An interesting update is that the company will adopt both Snapdragon and Exynos processor in two different editions.

Samsung strictly uses their Exynos processor in all their smartphones and tablets. However, the popularity of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is something one can’t argue against. While the actual launch date for the tablet is not known, the series of leaks coming in from multiple sources including a Chinese source claims it is very close. Just a week ago, it was speculated on Weibo that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be powered by a Exynos 7420 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and USB Type C port. It will also have a fingerprint sensor mounted right below the home button for easy access.

The tablet will also use UFS 2.0 storage technology, LTE SIM card support and a Wifi only version that will have a cheaper price tag than the LTE version. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 was spotted repeatedly in the GFXBench benchmark screenshots that also confirmed that the company is making one version powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset combined with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. The tablet will have a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera for video calls.

It will feature a 9.7-inch display as the previous model and will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The resolution is expected to be at 2048×1538 pixels. Samsung had to face a really hard time last year because of the Galaxy Note 7 explosion issues. This particular tablet was originally slated for launch during the September 2016 IFA event but it was postponed until they could sort out the Note 7 issues.

The device running on last year’s flagship processor confirms this claim. Even though, Samsung has access to all the Snapdragon 835 chipsets they could get stocked for Galaxy S8 smartphones, they are not going to use it with the Galaxy Tab S3 because it was designed for 820 SoC and might perform much better given its other specifications. And, the company expects much higher sales for the Galaxy S8 that probably made them decide not to let the 835 chip on any other device, be it LG, Huawei or even their own smartphones and tablets.

An official announcement for the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to take place during the 2017 Mobile World Congress which will be held in Barcelona, Spain.
