Sony Xperia XZ Premium was an ambitious flagship device revealed by the brand recently without an actual release date.
A new listing on Amazon UK shows the phone’s pricing in the country as well as a release date which is pretty close.
Pre-orders for the device are already open on the website and it claims that the phone will be available to customers on June 1st. Most popular flagship devices like the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 hardly have a release date at this point. While it is known that Samsung will host an event to make the announcement, it may not reach the hands of buyers for few months at least. The big brands take their time while a floundering company like Sony didn’t waste too much time.
They are bringing the flagship phone with impressive price and an equally huge price tag as quick as possible. It may convince some to go for it rather than waiting for what Samsung or LG might offer. All top phones want to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset which at the moment is running short. Samsung seem to have purchased them all for their Galaxy S8 and S8+ models while some other brands chose to use the older Snapdragon 821 so as to launch their phones in time.
According to the Amazon UK listing, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium will cost about $800 in the United States. The original cost in posted in British pounds but the conversion approximately suggests it will be priced close to what a Galaxy S8 or Apple iPhone 8 would cost.
The 5.5-inch phone features a 4K resolution display powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor. However, games and videos will be rendered in 1080p so that they don’t tax too much on the SoC. The phone has 64GB of storage space with the option to expand up to 128GB using a microSD card. The camera is the biggest selling point as the 19 megapixel snapper can capture ultra slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second for some gimmicky videos you might want to create.
Without a contract, the pricing of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is really high to afford for the average buyer. Besides, competitor models including the LG G6 and the Galaxy S8 is not available to purchase yet. Once they are out, it will be easier to compare and find the best of the lot that justifies the premium price tag.
