The long-running rumor train might have finally come to a halt as the founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, has allegedly discussed about some of the anticipated specifications and features to expect in the Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone.
Based on a chat conversation shared by a Weibo user, it seems Xiaomi is going to push the boundaries of the entire smartphone industry and set a new benchmark for all Android models. When Apple removed the fingerprint sensor in the iPhone X, users were visibly annoyed as it didn’t have an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Android phones have managed to grab the honor of being the first to implement the feature and many others. While in-display fingerprint sensor is not entirely new as the Vivo Apex already uses it, it makes a whole lot of difference when a popular brand like Xiaomi implements it.
Xiaomi Mi 7 Will Have In-Display Fingerprint Sensor
In previous rumors, many sources claimed that Xiaomi is going to introduce the in-display fingerprint sensor. The CEO of the company has mentioned in a chat conversation that Mi 7 will indeed sport the feature making it easier for users to unlock their device. As they have implemented the fingerprint sensor, the manufacturer may not try to use a Face ID unlock system for the smartphone.
Creating a Face ID that works as good as the Apple iPhone X is a difficult job and may also lead to increased manufacturing costs. It’s good to know that Xiaomi Mi 7 will be an affordable flagship model with some nifty features that users would love to have.
Mi 7 Display and Hardware Specs
As confirmed by Lei Jun, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will have an OLED display providing the best brightness level and color reproduction in the phone. The phone according to rumors will have a top notch which is smaller than the iPhone X but will be there to provide space for the sensors and the front camera. It was not discussed by the CEO in his chat but as many rumored features are already claiming this, we may see a top notch on the phone as rumored.
Based on the information we have, Mi 7 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the latest processor from Qualcomm that offers better battery efficiency, improved photographs in low lighting and more responsive than previous chipsets.
Mi 7 Expected Pricing
The official pricing of the Xiaomi Mi 7 is not known at the moment but the Mi6 was very affordable at just $350. Based on Xiaomi’s approach to delivering affordable smartphones, the new flagship model can be expected to be priced around $400 to $500 while it offers features that are found only in expensive models such as the Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X.
Stay tuned for more updates. Let us know what features you are looking forward to in this new device.
